AGO.com
Behind the Brand
AGO.com, the PremiumBrands collection and my thinking about choosing a compact name for a web business.
I founded PremiumBrands.com around selected domains that a buyer can consider as business identities. AGO.com gives me a chance to think about the value of a compact introduction. Three letters leave room for the company to establish its own associations through the work it does.
My route from i-Newswire.com
My experience includes acquiring i-Newswire.com in 2007 and upgrading the business to Newswire.com in 2015. That change is part of why I take an address seriously when considering a company name. The business and its public identity should be comfortable appearing together.
With AGO.com, I would pay attention to what comes immediately after the name. A short address can be easy to place on a product, but the accompanying description still has a job to do. It should let someone understand the first offer without having to interpret a founder’s entire plan.
Starting with a short introduction
AI has made the process of exploring an online business more accessible. I am interested in what founders can learn from a working first version of a website or product. A compact name can sit beside that version while the builder discovers which explanation people actually understand.
For an open name like AGO, a small test might compare two descriptions of the same service rather than two unrelated businesses. I would look at where visitors hesitate and the questions they ask next. That response can sharpen the presentation while keeping the underlying idea consistent.
Developing the context for a buyer
OnlineBusiness.com is the strategy and development studio I use to support PremiumBrands presentations. Its role is to help give the names enough practical context for consideration. The offering remains with PremiumBrands, and a prospective owner brings their own decisions about the company behind the address.
